English: D78 Stock is the name given to a batch of sub-surface trains that Metro-Cammell of Birmingham built for London Underground in 1978, although the first train did not enter service until 1980. These trains were built for use on London Underground's District Line (except between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road). They were usually called simply "D" stock. Prior to refurbishment, the trains were the last to have all-wooden flooring, and the last to have hanging straps without loops. They were also the last trains on the London Underground to be painted in the red, white and blue livery (2005-2008). London Underground has since replaced these trains with the S7 stock, with the last train being withdrawn in 2017.
